The Woden Valley Academy Program is designed for players who are committed to taking their soccer journey to the next level and competing at the highest levels available in the ACT. Players will benefit from coaching focused on the Four Core Skills of Football, game training, fitness, coordination, and the mental aspects of the game.
The Academy comprises 8 teams:
- Opens U10, U11, U12 and SAP 13’s
- Girls U10, U11, U12 and SAP 13’s
These teams consist of the highest ranked players in the Club for these age groups, and will be nominated for Division 1 competition play, with the SAP 13’s squads being nominated for the Capital Football SAP Leagues.
Players wishing to participate in the Academy teams are required to trial. Trials are usually held in October and November, with squads being finalised by early December. For season 2025, cost of the Academy is $660 per player. This cost includes
- Capital Football and Football Australia fees (including insurance)
- Ground hire for training and match days
- Payments to match day officials
- Field equipment
- Player uniforms (training top, tracksuit, club backpack)
- Coaching fees
- Entry into pre-season tournaments
- Pre season friendlies
In keeping with our principle of inclusiveness, players who genuinely cannot afford the full Woden Valley Academy Program fee may be eligible for another arrangement. This might be things such as joining our set-up crew, extra canteen duty, being a Game Leader or mentoring PeeWees.
The focus of training for Academy participants will be on the four core skills of football (first touch, striking the ball, running with the ball and 1v1). However, the Academy will also look to supplement these technical skills with sessions in other areas which will assist in the development of players. These sessions are yet to be determined for Season 2025, but could include:
- Speed and agility training
- Strength and conditioning
- Nutritional advice
- Mental approaches
Our Woden Valley Academy Program is designed to support ambitious players while maintaining our commitment to all teams within the club. The Club is dedicated to providing playing opportunities for all prospective football players, regardless of skill level. In addition to Academy teams, which typically play in Division One,Woden Valley aims to field teams in Division One, Division Two, and Division Three, provided there is sufficient talent and interest to support these teams. Players who are not part of the Academy Program are encouraged to play football at Woden Valley with one of these teams.
