Woden Valley Soccer Club seeks to recognise and celebrate the contributions of our coaches, teams, and volunteers who have shown exceptional dedication, effort, and performance throughout the season. The following awards will be presented at the annual end-of-season event every season:
- Coach of the Year
- Team of the Year
- Senior Volunteer of the Year
- Junior Volunteer of the Year
- Kurt Steel Award
Coach of the Year
Nomination Criteria:
- Commitment to Development: Evidence of consistent improvement in player skills, team cohesion, and individual player growth throughout the season.
- Positive Influence: Ability to foster a positive team culture and demonstrate sportsmanship.
- Communication: Effective communication with players, parents, and club staff.
- Attendance: Regular attendance at training sessions, matches, and club events.
- Support of Club Values: Commitment to the values and goals of Woden Valley Soccer Club, positive promotion of the club, and taking care of equipment, including game day responsibilities for pack up.
Nomination Process:
- Nominations can be submitted by any club member, including parents, team members, or fellow coaches.
- A summary outlining the coach’s contributions and impact on the team is required.
- Deadline for nominations: Last week of August.
Coach Of The Year Nomination Form
Team of the Year
Nomination Criteria:
- Performance and Progress: Consistent improvement and achievements throughout the season, regardless of match results.
- Team Spirit: Demonstration of exceptional teamwork, sportsmanship, and respect for opponents, referees and other officials
- Overcoming Challenges: Ability to overcome challenges, such as player injuries/changes to the team’s make-up, and maintain a positive attitude.
- Engagement with the Club: Participate in club events, positively support the club, and support other teams.
Nomination Process:
- Any club member, including coaches, players, or parents, can submit nominations.
- The nomination should include specific examples of the team’s achievements, unity, and contributions to the club.
- Deadline for nominations: Last week of August.
Volunteer of the Year
Nomination Criteria:
- Commitment to the Club: Regular and significant involvement in club activities, whether in an official role or as a general volunteer.
- Positive Impact: Contributions that have positively affected the club’s operations, events, or the experience of players and families.
- Leadership and Initiative: Willingness to take initiative and lead efforts that benefit the club.
- Support of Club Values: Embodiment of the values and goals of Woden Valley Soccer Club.
Nomination Process:
- Nominations can be submitted by any club member, including committee members, players, parents, or fellow volunteers.
- The nomination should include a summary of the volunteer’s contributions and the impact of their efforts.
- Deadline for nominations: Last week of August.
Kurt Steel Award
The Kurt Steel Award is presented to an U13-U18 social team (Division 2 or 3) for demonstrating outstanding team spirit and camaraderie. This award is not based on match results but instead celebrates a team’s unity, cooperation, and positive attitude both on and off the field.
Nomination Criteria:
- Team Spirit: Demonstrating strong bonds between teammates and fostering an inclusive, positive atmosphere.
- Camaraderie: Ability to support each other through challenges and celebrate victories together.
- Participation: Active involvement in training, matches, and club events, prioritising fun and enjoyment over results.
- Support of Club Values: Embodiment of Woden Valley Soccer Club’s principles of community, respect, and inclusivity.
Nomination Process:
- Any club member, including coaches, players, or parents, can submit nominations.
- The nomination should highlight how the team exemplified camaraderie, team spirit, and support for one another throughout the season.
- Deadline for nominations: Last week of August.
Selection Process:
- A selection committee will review all nominations and determine the award recipients based on the outlined criteria.
- Award winners will be announced at the Woden Valley Soccer Club’s end-of-season event.
