I Respect Initiative

Hello Team Coaches and Managers

Woden Valley Soccer Club has partnered with The Snow Foundation and the I-Respect Initiative to provide the opportunity for motivated football coaches to gain the skills and tools to better inspire and engage men and women to live and grow with respect, integrity, and non-violence.

Sport coaches play an extremely important role in the lives of individuals within their teams, at times serving as a parent-figure or mentor, influencing how players think and behave on and off the field.

Coaching Boys Into Men (CBIM) and Athletes as Leaders (AAL) delivered as part of the I Respect Initiative, provides innovative, evidence-based programs that equip coaches with engaging facilitation skills and a series of scripted coach to athlete discussions on how to model and address critical topics with their players. Topics include (but are not limited to) respectful relationships, personal responsibility, objectification, digital respect, consent, harassment, sexual assault, and challenging gender stereotypes or social norms (i.e. ‘be a man’ and ‘like a girl’). Both programs are designed to be easily integrated and delivered within 15 minutes each week during training season after season.

WVSC and The Snow Foundation have commited support to The I Respect Initiative by providing funding to deliver each program for up to 20 coaches from our teams ranging from U14 and up.
